Engineering Village Adds PlumX Metrics

on Tue, 02/06/2018 - 16:03

PlumX Metrics provide insights into the ways people interact with individual pieces of research output in the online environment. The metrics can be used to determine the reach or impact of a document when evaluating research articles.  Examples include, when research is mentioned in the news or is tweeted about online. Collectively known as PlumX Metrics, these metrics are divided into five categories to help make sense of the huge amounts of data and to enable analysis.  Metrics are categorized into 5 separate areas:

  • Usage – A way to signal if anyone is reading the article or otherwise

Introducing IEEE Standards in Compendex on Engineering Village

on Mon, 01/22/2018 - 15:27

Oil rigs. Batteries. Airplanes. These modern marvels all require the use of technical standards, a cornerstone of engineering. But, standards aren’t the only “cornerstones” of engineering research, design & development, and manufacturing. While standards will tell you “what” to adhere to, “how to get there” is a different story.

Engineers and researchers need a complete suite of validated information to innovate, build, and maintain. That information is usually found in books, journals, conference proceeding, and more…all of which is indexed in Compendex on Engineering Village.

Now,

Related documents box in Compendex and Inspec

on Tue, 12/05/2017 - 13:50

Finding relevant information within Engineering Village is faster and easier now with the new Related Documents feature. The Related Documents box that appears on Compendex and Inspec record pages contains links to three documents that have related topic information to the document that is displayed on the screen. When clicking on the ‘View All’ link, a new results page opens showing up to 25 more related topic documents.

The Related Documents box leverages the unique numeric data indexing that is only available on Compendex and Inspec on the Engineering Village platform.

Engineering Village folders are a great way to organize research and store records for easy access.  Registered users can create up to 10 personal folders and now up to 100 records can be saved to each folder. The previous limit for saving records was 50.

Throughout multiple research sessions, users can select records within any Engineering Village database and place them in a folder where they will remain saved.  Records can be added to an existing folder at any time and can be downloaded, printed or shared by the folder owner.

Steps for Saving Records to a Folder:

1. Do a search within any
