Engineering Village has a new search engine

Engineering Village is migrating to a new search engine. The new engine will enable the Engineering Village platform to better leverage new search technologies in the future.  After completion of several rounds of customer trials and feedback, the new search engine will be rolled out to all customers on September 30, 2020.

For those of you who are working COVID-19 research, the Engineering Solutions team at Elsevier created an Engineering Resources page for COVID-19 where you will find information and resources relevant to the engineering community. The page includes guidance, early detection technologies, the latest innovations in engineering, personal protective equipment (PPE), personal hygiene engineering control measures, and more.  Elsevier worked in partnership and support with ASHRAE, Dunedin and Taylor & Francis.  The Engineering Resources COVID-19 page can be found here

Engineering Village Completes Migration to New Identity Management System

Engineering Village is pleased to announce the completion of the migration to Elsevier's new Identity Management System.    

The new Identity Management System improves users’ sign in, registration, remote access experience, and enables Single Sign On access across Elsevier products. In addition, the new system allows users access enhanced personalized features and remote access outside institutional IP ranges.

Improved Login Process

Engineering Village will integrate with Elsevier's new Identity Management System in mid-March 2020, which will improve users’ sign-in, registration and remote access experience, as well as allow for Single-Sign-On across Elsevier products and services in the future. 

This new system will provide a more intuitive user experience especially for end users that take advantage of a variety of Elsevier products and services. There will be some minor changes in the sign-in or registration process when outside of your institutional IP range.

Increased Download Limit for Better Big Data Analysis

The Engineering Village team is constantly watching research trends and talking to users about their research needs.  One trend that continues to grow is the increasing need for big data analysis.  Engineering researchers want larger data sets.  The team at Engineering Village has responded with an increase in the number of records that can be downloaded during a session from 500 to 1,000 records.

Open access (OA) documents are an important and growing part of engineering research.  Peer-reviewed scholarly articles in engineering research literature are increasingly available online, without restrictions. Starting August 2019, Compendex will have over 1 million documents tagged as Open Access. Each Open Access document is peer reviewed and free to read and download.
