Easier Access to Search History

on Thu, 09/06/2018 - 20:49

Engineers now have faster access to their search history via the Results tab at the top of Engineering Village's search results page. The five most recent searches are visible along with the total number of searches completed during the session.

Engineers can click on any of the search queries to re-run the search or View All Results to go to the Search History page that lists all search queries.  The Results tab search history list contains the most recent rolling five searches.

Why You Should Use It

  • Streamline the process for managing search queries in a way that makes research more efficient
  • Quickly and easily re-run any of your most recent five searches
  • Refer to searches you run most often

How Is This Feature Used (Example)

An engineering librarian is working with a graduate student to find relevant documents on a specific topic.  After trying several search queries, they agree the previous result set was the most relevant.  The librarian clicks on Results and quickly goes back to the most recent result. Then, he or she creates an Alert and saves the search

Workflow Steps

  • Perform several searches
  • From any Engineering Village page, select Results at the top of the page
  • Click on the search query for any of the 5 most recent searches in order to run the search again
