Engineering Village is COUNTER and SUSHI compliant, making online usage tracking easier for libraries

on Fri, 01/29/2016 - 23:47

Engineering Village has received COUNTER Release 4 and SUSHI compliance. COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) is an international initiative
serving librarians, publishers and intermediaries by setting
standards that facilitate the recording and reporting of online
usage statistics in a consistent, credible
and compatible way.
SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative)
provides instructions to automate the collection of usage
statistics reports from compliant vendors.

Recently, a formal audit was successfully completed for Engineering Village, which confirmed usage report compliance in the following areas: Total Searches, Result Clicks and Record Views by Month and Database (also called DB1).

"COUNTER is pleased to list Engineering Village on its list of COUNTER-compliant databases, following a successful independent audit. Libraries spend considerable amounts of money in purchasing different types of online content to support their users’ needs. User activity in relation to this content needs to be continually evaluated to see if libraries are maximizing their investment in electronic resources deals. Compliance with the COUNTER Code of Practice release 4 helps librarians to demonstrate the value of electronic resources by facilitating the recording and reporting of electronic resource usage stats in a standardised, credible and compatible way.” -- Lorraine Estelle, COUNTER Director.

Elsevier, a leading publisher of science, technical and medical information products and services, initially became
COUNTER compliant in November 2003. Engineering Village joins an esteemed list of COUNTER and SUSHI compliant
Elsevier products including: Science Direct, Scopus and Knovel.
