New Engineering Village Content & Features: Inspec dissertations & sharing engineering research information

on Thu, 02/25/2016 - 03:11

You may have noticed new Engineering Village features that benefit your workflow.  Please take a moment to review two special updates.

Inspec has partnered with ProQuest to include over 12,000 ProQuest dissertation records in the Inspec database on Engineering Village.  These records can be retrieved by searching (DS wn DT) on the Expert Search page or limiting to Document type = dissertation on the results page.  A link to the full text dissertations is available on the Detailed record page.

1.) Inspec - Dissertation Full Text Links

Dissertations represent leading edge research within the engineering field.
With a subscription to ProQuest dissertations, you now have the opportunity to access full text dissertations within the engineering field from the Detailed record page.  The dissertations can be retrieved alongside the scholarly journal, reports and other material within Inspec via a single search. This saves time, while also providing convenience and comprehensiveness to search results.

Share & archive research for students and researchers within a webpage or blog post.

2.) Share button

The 'Share' link will always be available to a specific document without the need to run a search within Engineering Village to retrieve it.  The link saves time and creates a permanent reference to the document from any webpage. The 'Share' link is an updated version of a previous feature entitled, “Blog This”.

  • Faculty can use the feature to share a specific document reference on their website with students.  The 'Share' feature can also be used to create a bibliography list on a website of published documents.
  • Students can use the links within web-based class projects.

How it works:

  1. Do a search
  2. On the results page, select a document
  3. On the document page, select the Share button at the top of the page
  4. Copy the URL and insert it into your webpage HTML
