Engineering Village has an updated look!

On August 2, Engineering Village has launched an updated user interface which provides a modern interface experience while keeping all the current navigation and high quality functionality that users rely upon for managing engineering research. This interface refresh project has being completed with user input via focus groups and interviews which are driving the enhancements. 

Highlights of the interface update include:

  1. Header navigation: The new header now includes Search options (basic, advanced, experts search), Results, Alerts and selected records.

Customize your output with new sort features

Engineering Village has added the ability for users to select up to 10 different ways to sort records before downloading, printing or emailing records.

What is new?
Users of Engineering Village can now sort their output in a way to make record analysis easier to and keep their research organized.  For example, a user who wants to identify all papers by a specific author within their selected records set can sort by author name, and then output the records in the sorted format.

Engineering Village Releases New, Improved Record Sharing

Share the knowledge contained in Engineering Village with other experts in your field by leveraging our new and improved record sharing feature. We've streamlined the ability to share records whether via email or by embedding a record link on a website or blog.

How it works:

We've combined the Share and Email buttons on the Record Abstract and Record Detail pages in order to provide all sharing choices within a single menu for your ease of use.  From the Share menu, simply copy your link and paste it within a blog post, website etcetera.

Now available: Create Custom Names for Saved Searches and Alerts

You can now assign a name to your Saved Searches and Alerts.  By default, Saved Searches and Alerts are assigned a name based on the search query used.  With this new feature, you have the option of replacing the default name with any name you choose up to 32 characters.  

Benefits 

  • Creating custom names for Alerts and Saved Searches enables you to better organize and track your research. 
  • Additionally, researchers and librarians who use project codes to track research time or activity can assign a name based on a project code or description.

New: Recently Published Alerts delivers only the latest engineering research content to your inbox

Recently Published Document Alerts

Engineering Village Alerts are sent weekly on Fridays and contain all documents loaded that week, which match your saved topical Alert choices.  Now, if you only wish to see the most current articles published, you can turn ON the Recently Published Alerts feature, which will limit Alerts to documents that are published only within the past year.  It's simple!

Steps after creating an Alert

  1. On the top menu bar, select Settings, then Alerts & Searches
  2. In the Recently Published column, change OFF to ON

New Engineering Village Content & Features: Inspec dissertations & sharing engineering research information

You may have noticed new Engineering Village features that benefit your workflow.  Please take a moment to review two special updates.

Inspec has partnered with ProQuest to include over 12,000 ProQuest dissertation records in the Inspec database on Engineering Village.  These records can be retrieved by searching (DS wn DT) on the Expert Search page or limiting to Document type = dissertation on the results page.  A link to the full text dissertations is available on the Detailed record page.
