Serendipity. By definition, it’s the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. Engineers and researchers make serendipitous discoveries all the time, whether it’s diagnosing an unexpected failure or uncovering a suitable material for a specific scenario or condition.

Serendipitous discovery also happens in engineering information & data searching. And, Engineering Village just made it easier to make sense of it.

The “Related Documents” feature is now categorized by document type.

Faster and easier modifying of searches on Engineering Village

We've recently introduced an important enhancement that makes search refinement faster and more efficient in Engineering Village. Previously, you would revert back to the search page to modifyyour most recent search. Now, a search form on the top of the results page makes search modifications easier.This new search form eliminates the need to take the extra step of clicking the back arrow to the original search form when editing a search.  Additionally, terms and concepts within the search results list can be consulted as you modify your queries.

Easily find important engineering information, faster

Locate 'go to' resources quickly with new features in 'My Preferences', that enable you to customize both search and facet settings. Note: You must register and/or log in to take advantage of these free upgrades.

1. Database default (search): Pre-select the database(s) you wish to search, then click 'Save' to set the search setting as your default. It's that simple.

GEOBASE and GeoRef results enriched with Citation Counts, Citation Details and Author Profiles from Scopus

Next to Ei Compendex and Inspec, GEOBASE and GeoRef result page has been enriched with Citation Counts, Citation Details and Author Profiles from Scopus.

These new features will help Geoscientists across the globe to understand how research is being used, identify key opinion leaders in specific fields and understand what they are researching.


The Citation Counts appear in search results near each article that contains one or more citations within the abstract and indexing database Scopus.

Engineering Village has released two new features to enhance the user experience of the platform - show/hide preview and horizontal facet display.

Show/hide Preview

This feature provides users with the ability to see the preview of a record within the Search Results Page. This allows a user to faster review the results, saving time:

Engineering Village enhances search history and selected records

Search History

Search history has been upgraded to more easily combine searches. New drop down connectors allow allow for quick selection as the user's search is added to the Combine Searches box. Users still have the one-click capability to view query details, edit, save search or create an alert. Results can be viewed by selecting the results count to view the search results.

Select records is now quicker to use with the ability to select up to 500 records at once and view the Selected record count from the search result page:
